Use collections, following, and reading progress to create a long-term, reading-focused space for works to read, in progress, and completed.

Collection and reading-progress foundations are available, but a unified personal-library information architecture, ownership scope, and shelf interface are still planned.

Core purpose

A personal library does not create another kind of public work data. It organizes a user’s long-term relationship with books into a surface that is easy to return to. It can combine to-read, in-progress, completed, following, progress, and personal groups without letting personal state rewrite public work identity.

Foundations already available

  1. Collections can create booklists, order works, and preserve structure.
  2. Reading progress can preserve reading state, percentage, position, and events.
  3. Books and Content Structure provide chapters and reading entry points.
  4. Following and content feeds let readers keep up with works and community updates.
  5. Cross-language work identity means library items do not depend on one translated title or platform URL.

Product scope not yet decided

A library may represent every work Unit a user follows, works they declare they own, content acquired in REZICS, or a combination of those scopes. Groups on the left can be several collections or can be generated by dynamic search conditions.

Until real usage proves these rules, REZICS will not let one ambiguous library field simultaneously mean following, ownership, purchase, and collection.

Planned experience

The library will provide a shelf presentation centered on covers and reading state, entry points for resuming reading, cross-platform source selection, personal groups, and batch organization. Mobile and desktop need to share identity and progress, but can use layouts with different densities.

Relationships and boundaries

A library does not replace collections, reading progress, or books. It combines those capabilities into a product readers can understand easily. Personal state belongs to the user and must not be written back as public fact about a work.
